Re: Jack of Trades, skills and timing

Not that my opinion matters for much, but I could see an argument for either case. When this question came up during our game it didn't matter to me either way as I knew I was about to hit 21 :vp, but, for what it's worth, here's what I think (and I am eager to hear what the official ruling is :) ) ...

Infirmary

Normally, if there isn't a mechanism in the description of a card that limits it's use (like the :exert or :limited limitations) then the ability can be used as often as the player can afford it, right? The Infirmary card, however, lack both a limitation and a cost. I would assume that the text "Res...

Second (full) Multi-player game

In the on-going saga of Frewfrux verses SolomanMedici, Frewfrux (playing the Subsidized Merchant deck) has managed to etch out a second victory against his rival (playing the Far Trader deck). In this second multi-player game for both players, game-play moved along at a little quicker pace with the ...

Re: Deck Building Difficulties

I selected "Other" because, while the availability of people to play *is* an issue for me, the biggest hindrance is that I don't have all the cards memorized. What I need is a spreadsheet of all the cards that lists out what each card does. Then maybe I will be able to see patterns that I can use. I...

Re: Introduced a New Player to the Game

However, I think the underlying mechanics are actually more middle-of-the-road in terms of card game complexity. So while the icons add to learning the game, the actual game itself isn't as difficult as some other titles. Oh, I agree. One thing I am going to do is to print out a card that summarize...

Re: Introduced a New Player to the Game

He did say, a few times, that he was quite impressed with the quality of the production of the game. Good job! :D

Introduced a New Player to the Game

So, I just had a "game" with my neighbour who has had no experience with Traveller, never played any role playing games in general, and is only just starting to explore the whole board game world. He is what I would consider to be a complete novice in every sense. After explaining a bit about the ga...

Re: Complication's Abandonment Modifier

Why did I think they weren't cumulative? I don't know what I was thinking there.

Maybe I was thinking about going into the negatives for cost. I'm guessing that the minimum cost to cancel a contract is zero, right? You can't get "credit" if the mods bring the cost to -2 or something.

Damage During Ship Combat

In the example on page 40 of resolving ship combat it would appear that the attacker chooses how to assign damage. It says ...[the attacker] may either assign it as expense Ahab must pay, or as :structure to an :upgrade. However, it does not say who assigns the damage to the different :upgrade's. Fo...

Re: Does Drawing Up to Seven Cards Cause Bankruptcy?

Having said that, is drawing up to 7 cards mandatory, in so far as one is able?

I cannot see any reason why not to, and plenty of reasons to do so, so I don't know how relevant this question is. Who knows, maybe it will become a relevant question the more cards I read.
